Hey there, my name is Mike. I started Dropzone Media in the summer of 2010.

I’ve been looking for a way to share my experience and knowledge of social media, video production, and web design but haven’t been able to find an outlet.

Then I went skydiving.

This was my first time skydiving and while a little nervous on the drive to the dropzone, all of my worries drifted away the moment I settled into the airplane. The anxiety was replaced with sheer excitement.

Falling through the air at 120 miles per hour gave me such an unexplainable feeling. Sure it was a rush but it seemed to clear my thinking and awaken something that led me to this idea.

When the high of jumping finally left my body (almost 24 hours later), I started looking for places to jump again. As I searched nearby dropzones and researched prices I noticed almost all of their web sites shared one specific element: they sucked.

The web sites were either straight up ugly or had poor navigation and often both. A few offered links to their Facebook Fan Pages and when I clicked through to them, I found they had virtually zero interaction. I don’t usually get fired up about a lot of things but not interacting with your audience is one of them.

Then it hit me! I was going to become the first and only social media consultant dedicating my services to skydivers and skydiving dropzones. That’s really just one aspect though as I’m able to work in many different environments.

Skydiving has opened up a whole new world to me and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to give back and open a whole new world to you! Feel free to ask me anything!
